Finnish Health Economics Seminar Series (FINHESS)

Ensi vuoden alusta käynnistyy uusi kansallinen terveystaloustieteen seminaarisarja, Finnish Health Economics Seminar Series (FINHESS). Tämä seminaarisarjaa korvaa aiemmin Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitoksen (THL) alla toimineen perinteikkään CHESS-seminaarisarjan. FINHESS tulee toimimaan webinaarina Teamsissa Terveystaloustieteen seuran alaisuudessa kerran kuukaudessa, maanantaisin klo 15–16 (muutamin poikkeuksin). Seminaarisarja alkaa 15.1.2024 aiheella "Improving Performance Through Allocation and Competition: Evidence from a Patient Choice Reform". Puheenjohtajana toimii Henri Salokangas THL:sta, ja varapuheenjohtajina Jaana Kari Jyväskylän yliopistosta ja Markku Siikanen Valtion taloudellisesta tutkimuskeskuksesta. 

Terveystaloustieteen tutkimus on Suomessa hajautunut moneen yliopistoon ja tutkimuslaitokseen. Lähtökohta seminaarisarjan järjestämisessä on, että jokaisella Suomen terveystaloustieteen tutkimusta tekevällä instituutiolla on mahdollisuus osallistua ja tulla edustetuksi seminaarisarjassa. Kansallisessa terveystaloustieteen tutkimusseminaarissa on hyvä mahdollisuus yhdistää Suomen terveystaloustieteen tutkimusporukkaa suhteellisen matalalla kynnyksellä yhteisen tutkimustuokion äärelle. Esitykset tullaan pääsääntöisesti pitämään englanniksi.

From the beginning of next year, a new national health economics seminar series, the Finnish Health Economics Seminar Series (FINHESS), will be launched. This seminar series replaces the traditional CHESS seminar series that was previously held under the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). FINHESS will operate as a webinar on Teams under the Finnish Health Economics Society (Terveystaloustieteen seura) once a month, on Mondays from 3 pm to 4 pm (with few exceptions). The seminar series begins on January 15, 2024 with a topic "Improving Performance Through Allocation and Competition: Evidence from a Patient Choice Reform". Henri Salokangas from THL will serve as the chair, with Jaana Kari from the University of Jyväskylä and Markku Siikanen from the VATT Institute for Economic Research serving as vice-chairs.

Health economics research in Finland is decentralized across various universities and research institutions. The organizing principle of the seminar series is that every institution conducting health economics research in Finland has the opportunity to participate and be represented in the seminar series. The national health economics research seminar provides a good opportunity to bring together the Finnish health economics research community. The presentations will primarily be held in English.
